This morning, my photographs of the "Greetings From Austin" mural sold five times through Dreamstime. With microstock sales, the commissions are generally quite low for an individual transaction. In this case, each of the Austin downloads paid $2. Chances are that the buyers paid about $10 each for the use of these images.
Another trend I've noticed is that the sales of my photos of President Jimmy Carter are picking up with all of the microstock agencies. I'm sure this has something to do with Carter being in the news lately. A couple of photographs of President Carter came through Dreamstime this morning along with the Austin downloads--but the Carter sales averaged just 32 cents each! Clearly, it takes a lot of sales to generate any money in microstock.
