I visited Fort Larned during on September 26, 2026. Fort Larned operated from 1859 to 1878 on the Sante Fe Trail in a remote part of Kansas. It's one of the best preserved Indian-Wars forts.<br/>It was fascinating to visit this remote fort. It is surrounded by wide open prairie. It reminded me of Fort Laramie in Wyoming, but on a smaller scale. During my visit, there might have been two other visitors for a portion of that time.
