Sailing stone

"Sailing stone" on the Racetrack Playa in Death Valley National Park, California on December 11, 2010. Sailing stones are a geological phenomenon found in the Racetrack. The stones slowly move across the surface of the playa, leaving a track as the go, without any human or animal intervention. Racetrack stones move only once every two or three years and leave tracks that usually last for three or four years.
