This is a collection of photographs from my visit to the Brookfield Zoo Chicago on September 17, 2025.
It's not Africa, but this zoo is an amazing place for practicing photography. The animals included here are the Nyala antelopes, the Bennett wallaby, the cotton-top tamarin and some colorful parakeets.
The parakeets are a challenging subject to photograph. They measure just 6 inches from head to the bottom of the tail--and they weigh just over an ounce. They are also fidgety--and make quick, sudden, unexpected movements. The tarapin is also quite small. As one of the smallest primates on the planet, it weighs less than 1 pound!
