Beginning on October 28, 2023, I took an 11 day road trip through some southern states (i.e., Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina and West Virginia) in hope of experiencing Fall colors. The colors were mostly underwhelming.
I've had better road trips. I was sick for the entire trip...sore throat, persistent cough, runny nose and general exhaustion. I visited an urgent care center in Charlotte and was diagnosed with a severe sinus infection. To top it off, I took a hard fall while leaving the Kentucky State Capitol. My head slammed down onto the concrete parking lot. I had bloody hands, a banged up knee and an injured left wrist. Over time, those injuries healed on their own.
Despite all of this, I saw many interesting and unexpected sites during my travels that covered more than 2,000 miles.
