The Dempster Highway is a gravel surfaced road that runs 417 miles from Dawson City, Yukon to Inuvik in the Northwest Territories of Canada. The first site for gas and other services is after about 235 miles.

An 800 plus mile journey on this rather primitive road is the closest thing I've ever experienced to "hiking by car."
