Each year, I look forward to capturing photographs from new and exciting locations. Last year, it was the Greater Yellowstone Area and New Mexico. This year, it will be the Pacific Northwest.

While it's always easier to see photo opportunities while visiting new places, it's important not to forget all the interesting subjects that are readily accessible very close to home. In my case, I rarely visit the city of Chicago--even though it is located only 25 miles from my home! And, it's amazing how many interesting subjects are located even closer to where I live in the southwest suburbs of Chicago.

For example, the Tinley Park train station is located within three miles of my home. I've driven by this station countless times, but never took the time visit the site. Last week, I parked at the station and entered the building for the first time. I found the interior of this structure to be a very interesting architectural subject. Without my interest in photograph, I probably would have never taken the time to explore this local attraction.

Tinley Park Train Depot This image was captured with my Nikon D800 and Nikon 14-24 2.8 lens. The photograph consists of five exposures blended together using Nik HDR Efex Pro2 software to create a high dynamic range (HDR) image.

I am also pleased that one of the project managers who helped build this facility came across these photographs and is placing an order for a number of prints for the Village offices!
